Tywyn stands at the seaward end of the Dysynni valley and Cadair Idris stands at the head of the valley, with a south-west ridge going across Tyrrau Mawr. Situated on the West coast of Wales the sunsets are legendary and a real thing of beauty. Dolphins and Porpoises can often be seen coming into the bay.

Local Area

There is loads to do here for all ages and you can just park the car and enjoy the beach, the walks and the town. The beaches stretch as far as the eye can see and dogs are allowed on certain parts.

Tywyn Leisure Park

The outdoor leisure facilities behind the flat are great for mini golf, tennis courts, skittles, and crazy golf. Very well maintained and great for kids and adults. Really good value

Cinema

At the bottom of the High Street is a beautiful restored 1920’s cinema called The Magic Lantern. Lovely secret garden at the back of it serving cocktails and snacks. It shows current films. Worth a visit

Shops

Lovely shops on the High Street. Mix of independent retailers, cafes , a great second hand book shop, ice cream shops etc… There is a large Co Op at the back of the flat (next to the train station) which is open till 10pm most days. Petrol station on the High Street as well.

Walks

There are lots of beautiful walks in this area.

If you turn left out of the flat and follow the promenade down onto the beach and keep walking, you will reach Aberdyfi. The walk is beautiful and is about 4 miles each way. Watch the tides as the majority of the walk is on the sand. You can get the train back or the local bus. See times below

Steam train that has been running since 1865 ! Beautiful journey with lots of themed events on the train. There is a very popular race called Race the Train in August

Public Transport - Train

The train station is about a 10 minute walk from the flat. Turn right and keep walking. Direct train from Birmingham New Street takes roughly 3 hours. Local line runs up and down the North Wales coast (ie Aberdyfi, Barmouth, Harlech  etc…)
